There are well-established practices for the use of iron supplements in sows and piglets, but are these strategies still the right approach? During this presentation, we’ll look over the latest scientific data, including several original research projects conducted under livestock farming conditions.
Dr. Stephen Frazer worked for several years in the agricultural sector, first as a general farm hand and later as a farm manager. In 2017, he returned to school with the goal of becoming a farm veterinarian, and in 2020 graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology Health Sciences from Bishop's University.
He began his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Université de Montréal in 2020. In the summer of 2021, a clinical externship at Demeter Services Vétérinaires introduced him to the swine sector and sparked one of his two main interests: swine medicine. His second interest—research and development—took root that same summer, when he began a Master's degree in Veterinary Science concurrently with his DVM. He completed his Master's degree in 2024.
Throughout his veterinary training, he continually sought out further opportunities in swine medicine, completing numerous clinical externships with various clinics across North America and gaining experience alongside practitioners across Canada and in the U.S. Midwest.
He completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2025 and joined Demeter Services Vétérinaires, where his work focuses on helping producers identify efficient health and production solutions for their operations, as well as conducting field research and analysis. Driven by a passion for data-driven results, he is eager to share insights from the latest scientific advances and ongoing research projects.
