High temperatures are the enemy of sow’s lactation, comfort, and thus of the nursing litter, but also of future reproductive performance and the size of the following litters! The producer can and must control, not only the temperature, but several other factors as well, to reduce the very negative impacts of these heat stress. What are they?

Philippe Gréau has a degree in agricultural engineering, with additional training in management, management control, marketing and ground transportation management. These training helped him learn about different aspects of swine production, having worked in it for 42 years now.

From R&D engineer to feed mill and breeding barn designer, he touched the world of business management for swine production environment, feeding stuffs industrial production, as well as swine genetics. He was part of the ex nihilo creation of very large swine production integrated supply chains in Russia and Ukraine, integrating grain production and concrete slatted floor construction. He also managed the entire production on a daily basis for these leading businesses in their respective country. He most recently worked in Asia as a consultant for Western and Asian companies for the construction of plants and production tools, especially very large multi-storey breeding barns.
