This presentation will provide an update on the most recent emerging diseases in swine production as well as the health challenges, and others, that producers will face in the near future.
Luc Dufresne is a veterinarian with over three decades of experience in the swine industry. He graduated from the University of Montreal in 1988 and began his career as a Staff Veterinarian at Shur-Gain, where he worked until 1997. Following this, he served as the Director of Veterinary Services at Brown’s of Carolina (Smithfield Foods) from 1997 to 2002.
In 2002, Luc joined PIC as the Technical Service Director, a position he held until 2004. He then moved to Seaboard Foods, where he served as the Senior Director of Veterinary Services from 2004 to 2023. Currently, Luc is a Consultant Veterinarian with Swine Veterinary Partners.
Throughout his career, Luc has been recognized for his contributions to the field. He received the Al Leman Science in Practice Award from the University of Minnesota in 2014 and was named the Swine
Veterinarian of the Year by the American Association of Swine Veterinarians in 2016.
