Christian Blais has been working for Trouw Nutrition Canada (Shur-Gain) for more than 29 years. He has been the general manager of Gène-Alliance since its founding in 1995 and since 2010, he has also held the same position at Isoporc and Meunerie St-Hugues. These companies are well known in the Quebec pork industry.

Mr. Blais grew up on a dairy farm, which gave him a taste for agriculture. He then pursued his university studies in agronomy at Laval University in animal science. He graduated in 1987. With his 37 years of experience, he has touched all sectors of pork production. He has given many conferences and trainings during his career.

He spends most of his time managing Isoporc Inc, an important link in the Quebec pork industry. This company, with a unique business model, is characterized by the contract farms with 200 owner-partners who produce near than 500 000 pigs in integration with its shareholders who operate other farms and slaughterhouses for a total of 1,7 million pigs.

Christian Blais leads a team of agronomists, veterinarians and agricultural technicians. Since his arrival, he has made several changes and innovations that have improved the zootechnical performance of the farms and reduced production costs, antibiotic usage with the first company in Canada to connect online all the sites of production with bigdata who impact all supply chains? He also respects the family values of the company which recognizes private entrepreneurship.

Since three years, he also the host of a cooking show named “Chef Christian” promoted by the Web magazine ORIGINE.

He met his wife Anne-Julie during his bachelor's degree and has two sons and a grandson.

Pierre-Paul Martin
Consultant

During his 44 year career at Olymel, Pierre-Paul Martin worked as Production Supervisor, Product Manager, then jumped into sales as Account Executive.

Promoted to the position of Quality Assurance Corporate Director - Fresh Pork with eight functionally linked plants, he worked in each of them to maximize performance on all levels, including quality, safety, and specifications of fresh, chilled, and frozen products and their packing components.

He worked on calculating product costs, developing specific products for international clients, allowing him to visit Australia and Japan several times, as well as China and South Korea.

Retired for the last three years, he was a consultant for Frontmatec R&D department, has participated in a training video for Canada Pork and in some presentations. He also continued his annual presentations at ITHQ for the Porc Show competition. He also was a trainer coach for CBCo Alliance executives.
